Minister Kenney Commends Canada Border Services Agency on Immigration Fraud Conviction

The Honourable Jason
Kenney, Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism,
made the following statement on the sentence issued by a Winnipeg
Provincial Court Judge to Bradley Jacobson, a former immigration
consultant in Winnipeg. Mr. Jacobson pled guilty to three offences
under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, and three offences
under the Criminal Code. He was sentenced to four years and six
months in prison and ordered to pay more than $380,000 in restitution
and to forfeit seized evidence:

“Our Government will not tolerate the deliberate abuse of Canada’s
immigration system. We commend the Canada Border Services Agency on
the diligent work that led to this conviction. Canada’s immigration
system is generous, but we will not allow fraudsters to victimize
vulnerable individuals or take advantage of our country’s laws. Our
Government is committed to catching and punishing unscrupulous
immigration consultants.”
