Canada recognize the XXIV Triennial Congress of Ukrainian CanadiansThe Honourable Jason Kenney, Minister for Multiculturalism, issued the following statement to recognize the XXIV Triennial Congress of Ukrainian Canadians:

“Today is the start of the XXIV Triennial Congress of Ukrainian Canadians in Toronto.

“For three days, delegates and participants will honour their past and discuss the future of Canada’s Ukrainian community.

“The XXIV Triennial Congress will also launch commemorations for the 80th anniversary of the Holodomor and the 200th anniversary of the birth of Taras Shevchenko, two events of importance and significance for all Canadians.”

“Canada’s Ukrainian community is now more than 1.2 million strong. For well over a century, they have made enormous contributions to the history and success of our country.

“As the Minister for Multiculturalism, I wish all participants of the XXIV Triennial Congress a productive session. I also wish Canada’s Ukrainian community a successful and prosperous future.”
