Sikhs Take Four Ministries in Trudeau’s Cabinet

History was made when Justin Trudeau’s cabinet was sworn in November 4th.  His 31-member ministry included four  Sikhs.

Harjit Sajjan is the  M.P. (Member of Parliament) for Vancouver-South. He was chosen as Minister of Defence.  Sajjan was the first Sikh to command a Canadian reserve Regiment.  He worked as a detective with the Vancouver Police’s gang crime unit.

Navdeep Bains is a third-term M.P for Brampton-East who serves as Minster of Innovation, Science, and Economic Development.  He served previously as Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister from 2004-2011.

Amarjeet Sol has served in Parliament as the M.P. for the riding of Edmonton-Millwoods.

Bardish Jhagger is a first-term M.P. for the riding of Waterloo serves as Minister for small business and tourism.
