Politicians of all political stripes were paying tribute to Mahmeet Bhullar at a memorial service November 29, 2015. The Alberta Member of the Legislative Assembly (M.L.A.) died on the road between Calgary and Edmonton when he recently stopped to help a broken down vehicle on a stretch of icy highway.
Former Premier Conservative Premier Jim Prentice praised Bhullar’s faith in the Sikh religion. “He always said he would return to God when he was needed,” he said.
Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi commented that Bhullar’s turban was signal that you could succeed no matter what you wore, or the religion you professed.
