Milton Town Council is extending an invitation to celebrate the brand new year at the 2015 Mayor and Councillors’ New Year’s Day Levee on January 1, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Milton Town Hall (150 Mary Street).
“My fellow colleagues on Milton Council and I are looking forward to continuing the tradition of greeting guests at the annual New Year’s Levee,” said Mayor Gord Krantz. “I can’t think of a better way to start the New Year than by having a conversation with our residents.”
The event, organized and hosted by Town Council, continues the Levee tradition of conversation and refreshments. Guests will also have the opportunity to be updated on Town Hall projects from 2015 and learn about upcoming Town and Regional plans for 2016.
The tradition of the New Year’s Levee dates back to 1646 when the governor of New France hosted the event to wish the citizens a happy new year and inform them of important events in France. It continues to be celebrated in municipalities across Canada.
